Peel Clear vs Ceramic Coating
Peel Clear vs ceramic coating: how a thick, reversible sprayed layer compares to a thin, glossy chemical coating, and how to choose the right one.
A plain-English guide to the peelable paint system Royal Armor sprays in Scottsdale: what is in it, how it goes on, how it holds up, and how it comes off.
Peel Clear is peelable paint. It is a spray-applied system made of two coats: a waterborne base coat that lays down a flawless foundation, and a durable top coat that self-heals light scratches and resists UV, chemicals and road grime. Sprayed in a professional booth, it cures into a smooth, flexible finish that looks and feels like factory paint. When you want it gone, it peels off by hand in large sheets and leaves your original paint untouched.
Base coat. A waterborne, color-enhancing prep layer. It builds the foundation the top coat bonds to and it is the layer that makes clean removal possible.
Top coat. The durable, self-healing, chemical-resistant layer that faces the world. It is what resists UV fading and yellowing through Arizona summers, and it is fully sandable and buffable once applied, so imperfections can be corrected like paint.
Every panel is cleaned and masked. The base coat is sprayed with standard HVLP equipment in a controlled booth, followed by the top coat, and the finish is cured before the vehicle leaves. Because it is sprayed, it covers curves, edges, emblems and trim continuously. There are no film edges and no seams because there is no film.
The same system does two jobs. Clear protection keeps your factory color exactly as it is and adds the protective, self-healing layer on top. A full color change uses one of 267 colors: 165 RAL-matched solids, 85 pearls and iridescents, and 17 multi-tone color-shift finishes.
Peel Clear is engineered for years of normal driving and is backed by a 20-year peelability warranty covering yellowing, peeling, cracking, fading and adhesion failure. Light scratches fade on their own in the self-healing top coat; deeper marks can be sanded and buffed; and rock chips land in a layer that can be peeled and resprayed rather than in your paint.
Peel Clear bonds without adhesive. Removal is a hand process: the layer lifts away in large sheets with no heat gun, no chemical remover and no residue. Your factory paint is revealed exactly as it was.
Royal Armor is a Scottsdale shop built entirely around Peel Clear. We spray it in a controlled booth off Greenway Road for drivers across the Scottsdale area, in clear or in color, and we remove and refresh it when you are ready for a change.
